The Winds of Change
a poem written by
thenorm and Morning Song

~ thenorm ~

the winds of change
whip around me
but I know
that I am safe
For I have you,
Your loving arms
to hold me.

And the storm outside
is brewing,
the weather turned once
again.
but no matter what,
what all may call,
Your love
will see me thru.

And when my footsteps
falter,
And when my grasp
will fail,
I have you
To lift me up
To where I need
To be.

And when I smile
With joy,
For the winds of change
Keep blowing
And I am not afraid,
I reach out,
Take Your Hand,
For you
Give me this strength.

Your arms,
You slide around me;
Your love
Sets me free.

So, at once I hold you
And am where
I need to be.

~ Morning Song ~

For you for me
for better for worse
for love and laughter
for pain and mirth

We live and learn
and better ourselves
We change and grow
and enrich the whole

What we like
what we don't
what we'll stand
and what we won't

This we learn
and so much more
when we reach
for the door

To see what's knocking
or is it who?
To see inside,
the old and new

Some changes made,
some slow, some not
confidence gained
not left to rot

Roads trod upon
not dared before
except in dreams-
not real at all

But this does happen
it is real
the strides are taken
the soul does feel

~ thenorm ~

here up on the wire,
with no net below,
i take a tentative step
as the winds begin to blow.

you take my trembling hand
and slowly lead me on
this chapter of my life
is the past, it's done.

you point towards the sun,
smile, and hand me shades
you lead me to the shallows
as we begin to wade.

the tide of time has changed us,
challenged us to grow
the movement has sustained us
as the wind continues to blow.

inside, i am warmed,
though i've a trembling hand
i see what i can do
and what i will not stand.

we launch our little boat
and slowly float downstream
together, we will find out
what life will really mean.
