Arms Around Me

the starstruck sway

of the moonlight

is upon us

and the dawn

just moments away.

i say to you

put your ever-lovin'

arms around me,

hold me close

like there's no

tomorrow

and bring softly to

me your sweet lips

and press them

gently

against mine.

the palm trees groan

as i watch you

grace the room

the beauty i see

astounds me

the love we share

surrounds me

and the mystery

of it all

simply confounds me

so i say to you

put your ever-lovin' arms

around me

hold me close

bring me into you

and never let me go

your loving care

your warm embrace

your heart

your home

is where i long to be

and as the morning calls

and i must take my leave

this one last time

before i return

to where i'm meant to be

my eyes cry out

my heart is heavy

and my soul even though

it knows i will return

for good

it doesn't trust the peace

and i cannot say the words

they are stricken from my lips

so you arise from your chair

upon the porch,

our place of wonder

and you

and brought me into you

and let me feel your love

your warmth

your passion

compassion

and joy.
