Taking Off My Sunglasses
a poem by thenorm
Oh, when I was younger,
I never Understood
Why I could never see
The Light; mine eyes
Did never catch
The Truth. Your Truth,
My Truth.
I could
Never even comprehend
Anyones Truth.
So I wandered around,
Watching, waiting,
Wondering Why
There was
No Real Truth.
And people used to say,
"Girl, you just gotta
You just gotta
Take off them
Sunglasses."
Oh, and I would laugh
...Surely you jest...
My Sunglasses are
Just not that Dark.
That isnt why
I Cant See.
And I
Just would not Listen;
Not even Entertain
Taking Off My Sunglasses.
They were
Definetly
Not My Problem.
Then They Fell
And I Could See
Your Truth.
My Truth,
Your Truth.
Anybodys Truth.
So now, they rest upon
My Head, but not so much
On my Eyes.
My Sunglasses.
Why I Could Not See.
